"O Ye Fair Ones"

Phillip and I were called to teach Sunday School to the 13 - 14 year olds. I have been so grateful to be able to do this together. I not only get to see Phillip "in action", but Chris is in our class too.
This week, the lesson is titled:

"How Could Ye Have Departed from the Ways of the Lord?"

The lesson focuses on Mormon, and how he lived righteously even when it seemed everyone around him was wicked. We learn that Mormon was only 10, when he is approached by Ammaron and given instructions regarding the plates.

10 years old! Can you imagine?

He is visited by the Lord at age 15 and "tasted and knew of the goodness of Jesus. (Mormon 1:15) He leads an army at age 16, and goes on to lead those armies for over 30 years! The Nephites refuse to repent, they seek vengeance against the Lamanites, and

are ultimately destroyed. Mormon also, is eventually killed.

I have really been thinking about how this applies to us today. How we are to remember "Him", and how hard it is for us and our kids. Is it really that hard, or do we make it that hard.
The lesson states: "Righteousness and wisdom are not limited by age or other circumstances. The Lord will bless those who serve Him at any age."

We all know some amazing kids. We have felt strengthened by their testimonies and courage.
I pray that we are doing our best so that we can help lead them into who our Father in Heaven needs them to be.

I don't want him to ask of us, "O ye fair ones, how could ye have departed from the ways of the Lord? O ye fair ones, how could ye have rejected that Jesus, who stood with open arms to receive you!"... O ye fair sons and daughters, ye fathers and mothers, ye husbands and wives, ye fair ones, how is it that ye could have fallen!" (Mormon 6: 17 & 19)

I have hope. Hope in a living prophet, hope through the atonement, hope in our families, especially righteous youth. I pray that we love them, pray for them, and set good examples for them. I have a testimony of these things.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen....

Take two.....

OK. My darling husband is working hard to
help me upload photos from the camera...
It is a new camera, and we are still figuring
things out.... HENCE, the delay.. which doesn't
really matter, since I have told no one I "officially"
started a blog...

I hope this works, because I have some great pictures
I want to share...
