Good times

I went to UT to pick up the kids this past weekend. My sister and I were able to help my mom
"spruce" up her frontroom, catch up with some family and friends, and visit the Oquirrh Temple open house. We were also able to bring two nieces home for a couple of weeks. ( : They are really cute girls. We also brought their dog to come and play with his "cousins". It is pretty fun. I have a captive audience whenever I am in the kitchen. As June is about to slip away for another year, we are thankful for and look forward to more good times.

Jumpin' June

My word, June is flying by, isn't it? So far, we have celebrated Phillip's birthday, gotten Chris and Lauren new haircuts, Phillip took Chris and Lauren to Utah, and we celebrated Father's Day.

I will be heading to Utah this weekend to bring all three kids and an assortment of cousins back to stay with us. Sounds fun right? I can't wait! ( :

Circus

Dear Mother Nature,

I am awaiting your "gift" this month. My body is already preparing. I think it decided to go with
a "circus" theme this month. You know, with the ususal attractions. Bearded ladies, boobloons, ferocious mood swings, er animals, etc.

You and I go waaaayyy back. In fact, I believe you have visited me approximately 400
times over the years. The only times you did not visit left me with four "spectators". I do
not wish to have any more spectators, so I am politely informing you that your visits will
no longer be required. Please don't misunderstand, there have been times I was especially glad for your visits, it's just that they are no longer required on such a regular basis.
Please feel free to enjoy the chocolate pie that I would NEVER have bought except for anticipating your visit. I need to inform Flip the Clown that the Fun House will be temporarily closed.

Sincerely,
Cyn

Graduation

We are so proud of Rebecca! She graduated today with honors, and because she placed in the top ten statewide in a DECA competition, she wore the "cords" for that too. WOW! She is enrolled at UNLV this fall, and we look forward to her continued success.
Last Thursday was the last day of school. I took the kids out to lunch. My only stipulation is that they all have to agree on one place. We went to Sonic. After lunch we came home so Lex could finish (start) packing. She left on a plane to Utah for a few weeks. She is having a good time with cousins. Chris will meet up with her in a couple of weeks to attend EFY at the U of U. I am excited for both of them! Lauren is making plans to stay there with friends while the big kids are in Utah. Lauren is also looking forward to getting her bike fixed so she can ride it this summer. I can't believe we are almost half way through June already! Father's Day and Phillip's birthday are just around the corner! I hope you are enjoying your summer too.

p.s. If you're wondering about a great service project, check out this link! My friend since high school, Michelle is hoping to complete a marathon in Maui to honor her dad CJ. I love, love, loved her dad CJ. He was one of the best! "I can~ I am~ I WILL" be supporting her in this goal. Maybe you can too.

"May"hem

It seems as though May has gone by in a flash! Christopher had a birthday, we've had "end of the year" programs at school, we went to Hawaii, my mom has been here visiting, and now it's practically June! First things first:

Chris turned 15. Here are some of his stats.
Height: 5' 11 and a half
Weight: 170
Girlfriend: Taylor Swift (she just doesn't know it yet)

We have gone to Lauren's band concert, and we went to see her get an award for her performance in the "solo olympics." She had to play an oboe solo in front of three judges, and they then rate the musicians. She received a " Superior" rating.
Rebecca had Sr. Awards night, but she didn't plan on going, so we didn't. She has however, received one grant that I know of.

Lex received the award for "Junior of the Year" at the Student Council banquet tonight. Sorry no pics, but it was just for the kids. She is the student body historian next year though, so I will get to see lots of pictures in the future! ( :

Phillip and I went to Hawaii for 9 glorious days! We spent the first week in Maui, where we enjoyed lots of lazy days. We snorkeled, slept in, he golfed, we shopped a bit, and relaxed! We went to Oahu for a couple of days, to visit Pearl Harbor. What a wonderful experience. It seemed especially poignant to be there during Memorial Day weekend. It was just awesome! We also happened to spend our anniversary there. 19 years, if you can believe. We're kind of a big deal, ha ha! It seems as if summer is here, and as usual it is going to be busy. Girls camp, EFY, squeezing in a trip to California if we can, and trying to finish up projects. Whew! I can't wait to see what's ahead.

p.s. I'll post pics of Christopher's b*day when I find the other memory card to the camera. ( :

Happy Mother's Day to YOU!

Happy Mother's Day to you!

As I think about the reason we celebrate today, I wish to celebrate you!
I am so grateful to be a mom. It is truly one of my lifes greatest blessings. I also know that without so many others to help me along the way, it would not be nearly as successful.
I celebrate my friends with "mother hearts," who have shown love to my children, and have uplifted them. I celebrate my friends whose hearts are grieving for their children who are now their angel children. You give me perspective. I celebrate the many teachers who have loved and inspired my children. Your influence is felt far beyond the time you shared with my children. I celebrate my son in law whose own mother is now mothering my daughter. I am so grateful that our families will grow together. I celebrate my sisters and sisters in law for always being back up's whenever I needed them. Whether it was an extra pair of eyes at the pool, or a refuge from lifes difficulties, I love them. I celebrate my mother in law, for loving me as her own. And of course, I want to wish my own mother a Happy Mother's Day. I love her, and hope that we have many more to celebrate. Happy Mother's Day to you!

Random Happenings

So you know how when the kids run out of "t.p." in their bathroom they just go and raid yours?
Lauren ran out, and got the last roll from our bathroom. I told her to go get some more for
both of our bathrooms and she did. This is what my bathroom looks like now.
Last Friday, Phillip and I went to see "LOVE" at the MGM Mirage. It was a great show!
I have been missing Rebecca alot this week. It is strange to have her graduating, and not taking her for Senior pictures, dress shopping for Prom, knowing which scholarships or grants she received if any, etc. It's not a bad thing really, just a reality I didn't expect. On the flipside, I didn't expect to have a wedding celebration for her either, which was alot of fun, OR get a son in law that I adore. So I guess as the saying goes, "Come What May and Love It." Finally in the randomness of this post, I will say that in two short weeks I will be in Maui! Hooray! I cannot wait!
xoxo
